The next morning, Vance Enterprises boardroom was full.
Investors.
Lawyers.
Executives.
Everyone smiling like nothing had changed.
Julian entered last.
Still trying to look like control hadn’t slipped.
Until the doors closed.
And Serena walked in.
Not as a guest.
Not as a wife.
As the majority owner.
Murmurs spread instantly.
Julian stood.
“This is a misunderstanding,” he said quickly. “Serena is emotional—she—”
Serena placed a thin stack of documents on the table.
“No misunderstanding,” she said.
She tapped once.
A screen behind her lit up.
Footage.
The ballroom.
The slap.
Lily crying.
Chloe’s staged tears.
Julian’s voice: “Apologize. Now.”
The room went still.
A board member leaned back slowly. “Julian… is this real?”
Serena answered for him.
“Yes.”
