Julian didn’t move for a full five seconds after Serena left.

The ballroom was still frozen in that unnatural silence, the kind that only follows a public humiliation no one knows how to categorize yet.

Then he laughed.

Low. Confident. Controlled.

“She’ll calm down,” he said, adjusting his cufflinks. “She always does.”

Chloe stepped closer, touching his arm lightly.

“She’s emotional tonight,” Chloe whispered. “Maybe we should just—”

A hotel staff member suddenly approached the table.

“Sir… Mrs. Vance requested all CCTV footage be preserved.”

Julian frowned. “Of course she did.”

Then his phone vibrated.

One message.

Unknown sender.

“You should check your private office.”

Something cold slid behind his ribs.
