The steel doors were still vibrating from the final lock.
Silence filled the ballroom like a living thing.
The attacker stood frozen, his arrogance completely erased, replaced by something unfamiliar—fear that had never touched his world before.
I watched him carefully.
Not rushing.
Not angry.
Just… certain.
He swallowed hard.
“What are you?”
A few guests backed away, realizing too late that this wasn’t a scene they were meant to witness.
I adjusted the torn sleeve of my dress, then slowly picked up my phone again.
“You spent your whole life believing power was loud,” I said quietly.
“But real power doesn’t need volume.”
A security officer stepped into the ballroom. Then another. Then ten more.
All moving in perfect silence.
No one spoke.
