Isabella’s shoeprint had long disappeared from the path.
Then investigators found photographs inside Conrad’s recovered boxes.
One image showed Isabella standing on Claire’s hand.
Conrad had taken it accidentally while photographing the documents Claire carried.
The picture was blurred.
The action was unmistakable.
Claire hung beyond the railing.
Isabella’s red shoe pressed against her fingers.
William saw the photograph inside Detective Ortiz’s office.
He did not speak for several minutes.
Then he asked whether Ethan would need to see it.
“No,” Ortiz said.
“Not now.”
“Perhaps never.”
