Dr. Vale agreed to cooperate after prosecutors discovered twenty-three falsified evaluations.
He admitted diagnosing me without an examination.
He admitted Sylvia paid him monthly.
He admitted David referred clients and opposing witnesses to his clinic.
In exchange for reduced charges, he surrendered an encrypted drive.
One folder carried my name.
Inside were plans for what the Mercers called the Christmas resolution.
If I complied, the family would continue controlling my money and contact.
If I resisted, Vale would authorize psychiatric observation.
If I tried to leave with Grace, David would seek emergency custody.
If I contacted my father, they would claim he used political power to interfere in a domestic dispute.
Every possible reaction had been assigned a counterattack.
Except one.
The baby arriving prematurely.
Grace’s birth disrupted the schedule.
Hospital doctors created independent records before Vale could intervene.
The operating room documented trauma consistent with impact.
The neonatal timeline proved the delay in emergency care endangered her.
Reality outran their paperwork.
Then investigators found a second file.
It concerned my mother.
Elizabeth Bennett Whitmore.
She had died from cancer eleven years earlier.
Dr. Vale had never treated her.
Yet Sylvia had purchased portions of her medical history through an information broker.
She wanted evidence of hereditary mental illness.
There was none.
So Vale drafted language suggesting my mother’s final pain medication caused behavioral instability.
David planned to use my mother’s death against me.
That discovery hurt differently.
The dead cannot defend themselves.
They depend on the living to refuse convenient lies.
I asked Rebecca to release my mother’s actual records only if legally necessary.
Privacy did not become worthless because opponents behaved without honor.
The court admitted the forged report without revealing unrelated details.
