PART 4: The Recording That Shattered Everything

Robert didn’t sleep.

He watched live.

The screen showed Evelyn sitting up, terrified the moment Linda entered.

Linda closed the door softly.

Too softly.

Like she had done it a hundred times.

Evelyn’s voice trembled.

“I didn’t forget… I didn’t take it…”

Linda crouched beside her.

Still smiling.

But her voice was colder than before.

“You always say that, Evelyn.”

Robert leaned forward, heart pounding.

Then it happened.

Evelyn tried to move away.

Linda grabbed her wrist—hard.

Not a slap.

Not a scream.

Just pressure.

Control.

Evelyn winced, collapsing slightly.

“Please…” she whispered again.

A pause.

Then Linda leaned in and spoke so softly the microphone barely caught it:

“No one believes you anyway.”

Robert stood up so fast the chair fell backward.

A lifetime of marriage didn’t matter anymore.

Only one thing did.

What he had just seen.
