PART 2: The First Drop of Truth

Robert sat alone in the dark kitchen, the glow of the monitor still flickering on his face.

He replayed it again.

And again.

Evelyn’s voice—broken, shaking.

“Please… not tonight.”

Linda stood perfectly still in the footage, like she already knew she was being watched by something invisible.

At 23:47, she leaned closer.

Not angry.

Not rushed.

Just… certain.

Robert’s hands trembled so badly the coffee mug slipped and hit the sink.

A crack echoed through the house.

From the hallway, Linda’s voice called softly.

“Robert? Are you okay?”

He didn’t answer.

For the first time in forty years of marriage, he was afraid of the sound of her voice.
