CHAPTER 3: THE HOUSE THAT WOULD NOT LET HER LEAVE

The mansion didn’t feel real anymore.

Every hallway looked longer.

Every door heavier.

Rosa ran with the baby pressed to her chest, tears burning her eyes but not falling.

Behind her—heels.

Slow.

Controlled.

Valeria wasn’t chasing like a victim.

She was walking like an owner.

“Rosa,” Valeria called softly from the corridor. “Don’t make this dramatic.”

That word—dramatic—felt like poison.

Rosa reached the main door.

Locked.

Of course it was locked.

She turned—breathing hard.

Valeria stood at the end of the hallway now, holding her phone.

“I told you,” Valeria said. “One call and you disappear.”

Rosa looked down at Santi.

Still too still.

Something inside her broke—but not into fear.

Into clarity.

She turned sharply toward the kitchen instead.

Marble floor.

Empty bottle.

Evidence.

Rosa grabbed it.

May you like

And for the first time…

she stopped being invisible.
