Chapter 2: The House of Lies Falls Apart

The Women's Justice Center advocate gently approached Valeria.
"You don't have to stay here anymore."
For months those words had existed only in her imagination.
Now someone was actually saying them.
She began crying without making a sound.
Outside, patrol cars quietly surrounded the property.
Inside, detectives searched room after room.
Hidden inside Julián's office they found three burner phones.
One contained hundreds of deleted messages.
Another held photographs of Ernesto's legal files.
The third revealed something even worse.
Conversations with a real estate broker discussing how to force Valeria into transferring ownership of her father's home after Ernesto's retirement.
The detective frowned.
"This wasn't just abuse."
"It was a long-term financial scheme."
Meanwhile another officer discovered hidden cameras installed throughout the house.
Kitchen.
Living room.
Bedroom hallway.
Every movement Valeria made had been monitored.
Even her private phone calls.
