CHAPTER 5 — THE TRUTH RETURNS HOME (FINAL CHAPTER)

The room was no longer a banquet hall.

It felt like a courtroom built for ghosts.

Marcus slowly walked toward Victoria.

“You assaulted a protected asset under international military custody.”

Victoria’s lips parted.

“That’s not—she’s just—”

Marcus raised his hand slightly.

And security immediately stepped closer to Victoria instead of Maya.

Her voice cracked.

“You’re making a mistake…”

Marcus shook his head.

“No.”

He looked at Maya one last time.

“The mistake was thinking she was lost.”

Maya stared at him.

Her voice barely came out.

“Who am I…?”

Marcus exhaled slowly.

Then said the words that silenced everything permanently.

“You are the continuation of a program the world agreed never existed.”

A pause.

“And the daughter of the man who ended a war before anyone knew it began.”

The baby in Maya’s arms stirred slightly.

As if sensing something shifting in the air.

Victoria dropped her gaze.

For the first time…

She couldn’t look at Maya at all.

Marcus gave the final order.

“Protect her. Immediately.”

Security moved.

Not against Maya.

But around her.

The doors of the banquet hall opened slowly.

Light spilled in.

Maya stood there, holding her child, surrounded by people who now looked at her like history itself had returned.

She took one step forward.

Then another.

And as she disappeared into the light—

Marcus whispered, almost to himself:

May you like

“The world just remembered what it tried to bury.”

CUT TO BLACK.
