CHAPTER 2 — THE WOMAN WITHOUT A FILE

Marcus turned toward the security head.
“Bring me her records.”
The man hesitated.
“Colonel… she has no records.”
Marcus didn’t blink.
“That’s impossible.”
He turned back to Maya.
“Everyone has a file. Even the dead.”
Maya swallowed.
“I was found on the roadside,” she said quietly. “That’s all I know.”
A silence followed that felt heavier than the chandeliers above.
Marcus studied her face more carefully now.
Not as a stranger.
But as a memory trying to surface.
Then suddenly—
He stepped back.
Just one step.
Like something inside him had physically shifted.
“No…” he whispered.
Victoria frowned.
“What is it now?”
Marcus lifted the pendant again.
His voice dropped.
“This isn’t a coincidence.”
He looked at Maya.
“This child… isn’t just connected to that operation.”
A pause.
May you like
“She is the operation.”
The room erupted in confusion.
