Chapter 6: The Enemy Inside the Family

The next morning, Alexander called a private family meeting.
Every member of the Valemont family arrived.
Nobody knew why.
Nobody expected what would happen.
Alexander stood at the end of the long dining table.
Lily stood beside him.
Holding his hand.
That single action made everyone uncomfortable.
Because it showed something they feared.
Alexander had chosen her.
“My sister Isabella had a daughter.”
The room erupted.
Whispers.
Shock.
Disbelief.
One man immediately stood.
“This is impossible.”
Alexander looked at him.
“Uncle Richard.”
The older man froze.
“You remember Isabella, don't you?”
Richard looked away.
“Of course.”
“Then you remember what happened.”
Nobody answered.
Alexander placed the hairpin on the table.
“The royal crest confirms Lily's identity.”
Richard's expression changed.
Only for a second.
But Alexander saw it.
Fear.
“You knew.”
Richard looked angry.
“Careful, Alexander.”
“No.”
Alexander stepped forward.
“For twenty years, I mourned my sister.”
His voice shook.
“I visited her grave.”
“But she wasn't dead.”
Everyone became silent.
Alexander looked around the room.
“She was running from someone.”
Victoria lowered her head.
Richard clenched his fist.
“You don't understand what you're doing.”
Alexander smiled coldly.
“For the first time in my life…”
He looked at Lily.
“I understand everything.”
Then the mansion security system suddenly activated.
A warning alarm echoed.
A servant rushed inside.
“Mr. Valemont…”
Everyone turned.
“There was an intruder in the west wing.”
Alexander frowned.
“What was stolen?”
The servant looked terrified.
“Nothing.”
“Then why break in?”
The servant swallowed.
“Because they weren't stealing.”
He looked at Lily.
“They were searching for the girl.”
The room went silent.
Alexander immediately moved in front of Lily.
Whoever had hidden Isabella's truth for twenty years...
Was still trying to erase it.

And now...
They were coming for her daughter.
