Chapter 3: The Secret Victoria Buried

Alexander's voice became colder.

“Victoria.”

The woman froze.

“Yes?”

“Why is Isabella's daughter here?”

Nobody moved.

The question hit the room like thunder.

Victoria forced a laugh.

“I don't know what you're talking about.”

Alexander stepped closer.

“You knew.”

“No.”

“You knew my sister had a child.”

Victoria looked away.

That was enough.

Alexander saw the fear.

The guilt.

The panic.

His entire life had been built on lies.

“Tell me the truth.”

Victoria swallowed.

“I was only trying to protect her.”

Alexander laughed bitterly.

“Protect her?”

He pointed toward Lily.

“You brought her into this room so people could humiliate her.”

Victoria's face hardened.

“She was never supposed to be here.”

Those words made Alexander stop.

“What did you say?”

Victoria realized her mistake.

But it was too late.

“She doesn't belong with the Valemonts.”

Alexander stared at her.

“Why?”

Victoria said nothing.

“Why doesn't Isabella's daughter belong?”

The room waited.

Finally, Victoria whispered:

“Because Isabella was never supposed to have that child.”

Alexander felt a chill.

“What are you hiding?”

Victoria looked around.

Then lowered her voice.

“Your family didn't lose Isabella.”

She looked at him.

“They abandoned her.”

Alexander froze.

And for the first time in twenty years...

He realized the biggest tragedy of his life might not have been losing his sister.

May you like

It might have been discovering that she was taken away from him.

And someone had spent two decades making sure he never found her.
