Chapter 4: A New Dawn

The morning sun filtered through the sheer curtains of the new estate. Julian had sold the old mansion—he refused to let Elara or their child live in a place tainted by such dark memories. Instead, he had bought a sprawling villa overlooking the ocean, filled with light, warmth, and a carefully vetted staff of loyal professionals.

From the doorway of the nursery, Julian stood in his casual clothes, watching his wife.

Elara was barefoot, but this time, she stood on a plush, heated carpet. She wasn't crying tears of pain; she was humming softly, a gentle smile gracing her lips. In her arms, wrapped in a soft white blanket, was their newborn daughter, Lily.

Julian stepped into the room and wrapped his arms around Elara from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. He looked down at the tiny, sleeping face of his daughter.

"She has your nose," Julian murmured, placing a soft kiss on Elara's cheek.

"And your stubbornness," Elara teased, leaning back into his solid, comforting warmth. "She refused to go to sleep until you came back into the room."

Julian chuckled, his chest vibrating against her back. He reached out, his large finger gently tracing the baby’s soft cheek. The terror of the past felt like a distant shadow, completely burned away by the light of the family they had fought so hard to keep.

"We're safe now," Elara whispered, resting her head against his.
