Chapter Fifteen The Choice

Weeks passed.
Emily pleaded guilty to murder, evidence tampering, witness intimidation, and multiple counts of fraud.
Every forged document was removed from the official record.
Sienna Parker's death was finally recognized as a homicide.
Her family held a memorial service where the truth was spoken aloud for the first time.
Julian stood in the back.
He didn't believe he deserved to stand with them.
When the service ended, he approached Sienna's parents.
"I can't undo what I believed."
"I can't undo what I did."
"But I'm sorry."
Sienna's father looked at him for a long time.
Then quietly replied,
"Grief can blind good people."
"But revenge..."
"...is always a choice."
Julian lowered his head.
He accepted every word.
Months later...
Audrey filed the divorce papers.
Julian signed them without hesitation.
He never asked her to stay.
He never tried to explain himself again.
Some wounds deserved respect.
Not excuses.
Before leaving the courthouse, Audrey stopped beside him.
"I don't hate you."
Julian looked surprised.
"I simply can't love the man who spent years pretending."
She walked away.
This time...
He let her go.
