CHAPTER 2 — The Boardroom Awakening

By midnight, the city skyline was carved in glass and steel as Isabella stepped into the top floor of Kingsley Global Tower.
Her tower now.
Executives stood as she entered. No hesitation. No confusion.
Only recognition.
“Ma’am,” her chief legal officer said, sliding a folder forward. “The acquisition is complete. Full control confirmed.”
Isabella didn’t sit immediately.
She looked out the window first.
The city below looked small. Distant. Fragile.
“Any resistance?” she asked calmly.
“Only emotional,” the man replied. “The board members are requesting negotiations.”
She finally sat.
“Denied.”
A pause.
Then she added, quietly:
“They had three years.”
She opened the folder.
Lucas’s empire was inside it—collapsed into numbers, contracts, and signatures he never read carefully enough.
She flipped a page.
Paused.
Then smiled faintly.
Not cruel.
Not satisfied.
Just final.
“Bring him in tomorrow,” she said.
“And make sure he understands… this is not personal.”
May you like
She closed the folder.
“It’s correction.”
