CHAPTER 1 — The Silence After the Fall

The doors closed behind Isabella without a sound.

But inside the mansion, silence didn’t last.

It shattered.

Lucas stood frozen in the middle of the dining hall, staring at the blank screen of his phone like it had stopped being real. Numbers flickered. Alerts stacked. Lines of ownership, control, and liquidation—erasing everything he thought was permanent.

“No…” he whispered again, weaker this time.

Richard’s whiskey glass was still broken on the floor, amber liquid spreading like a stain across marble.

Sophie backed away from the table slowly.

“What did you marry into?” she muttered.

Helen didn’t answer. She couldn’t.

Because for the first time, she understood the truth:

Isabella had never been a guest in their world.

She had been its foundation.

Outside, engines roared.

Not threats.

May you like

Not warnings.

A statement.
