CHAPTER 3 — THE BOY WHO REMEMBERED EVERYTHING

Quincy stepped forward.
Small. Quiet. Trembling.
But his voice cut through the hallway sharper than any adult’s.
“You did it again.”
Every head turned.
Naomi frowned. “Excuse me?”
Quincy’s hands clenched.
“You did it with my sister too.”
The word sister hit the air like a gunshot.
Garrett’s face changed instantly.
“Quincy—stop—”
But it was too late.
The boy had already opened the notebook.
Pages filled with dates.
Times.
Notes written in a child’s handwriting trying to document a crime no one believed.
“They said she died,” Quincy whispered. “But I saw them take her.”
The hallway felt smaller.
Colder.
Quincy looked at Garrett now.
Not like a son.
May you like
Like a witness in court.
“And Daddy helped carry the bag.”
