CHAPTER 2 â The Hidden Recording

The ambulance lights painted the highway in red and blue chaos.
Emma lay on the stretcher, breathing unevenly, one hand gripping the edge of her stomach while the other clutched a paramedicâs sleeve.
âYouâre safe now,â the paramedic said calmly. âWeâve got you.â
Emma didnât answer. Her eyes stayed fixed on the fading black SUV disappearing into traffic.
Then her phone vibrated.
Once.
Twice.
A notification.
A video file.
Unknown sender.
Emmaâs fingers shook as she opened it.
It was recorded from inside the SUV.
Vanessaâs voice was clear. Laughing.
âJust drop her off. Sheâll figure it out.â
Carol added coldly:
âBrian, stop hesitating. Sheâll survive. Women always do.â
Brianâs voice followed, quieterâbut worse:
âIf she makes it dramatic, Iâll just say she wanted attention.â
Emmaâs breathing stopped for a second.
The paramedic noticed.
âMaâam?â
May you like
Emma whispered:
âDonât let them know I saw it.â
