Chapter 5 – A New Beginning

One year later, Amelia stood on the stage of the newly opened Ashborne Foundation for Women Entrepreneurs.

Hundreds of young business owners filled the auditorium.

Many had escaped abusive relationships.

Many had started over with nothing.

Amelia wasn't there to tell them how to become rich.

She was there to tell them how to become free.

During the questions, a young woman stood.

"Do you ever regret leaving?"

Amelia smiled gently.

"I don't regret leaving."

She paused.

"I regret staying as long as I did."

The audience rose in applause.

Outside, the morning sun reflected off the foundation's glass walls.

Not far away, Julian walked past a newsstand.

On the front page was Amelia's photograph beneath a simple headline:

"The Woman Who Built an Empire—and Chose Herself Instead."

He looked at it for a long moment before quietly continuing down the street.

Amelia never sought revenge.

She simply stopped protecting the man who had mistaken her loyalty for weakness.

And in the end, the empire didn't collapse because she destroyed it.

It collapsed because she was the one who had been holding it together all along.
