Chapter 2 – The Woman Who Knew Too Much

Serena refused to believe it.

She marched into Julian's penthouse expecting reassurance.

Instead she found lawyers packing financial records into sealed boxes.

"Julian," she whispered.

"Tell me this isn't real."

He couldn't.

Every account they had used together had been frozen pending the divorce.

Luxury cars leased through the company were reclaimed.

The penthouse belonged to Grant Holdings.

Not Julian personally.

Even Serena's sapphire bracelet was listed as stolen family property.

Two detectives arrived that afternoon.

"We're here to recover property belonging to the Grant estate."

Serena slowly removed the bracelet.

She looked afraid.

Across town, Amelia met quietly with her mother.

Victoria Ashborne poured tea without saying a word.

"You planned all this years ago," Amelia said.

Victoria smiled faintly.

"No."

"I simply taught you never to build a kingdom without keeping the keys."

Amelia looked out the window.

"I loved him."

"I know."

"And now?"

Victoria reached across the table.

"Now you love yourself enough to leave."

For the first time in months...

Amelia cried.

May you like
