News of the stolen trust and Daniel’s death reached the public.
Reporters gathered outside Rivers Trucking.
Employees demanded answers.
The company’s earliest investments came from Sophie’s stolen money.
Even though Alejandro did not know the source, his fortune had grown from it.
His attorneys advised silence.
They argued that admitting the truth could destroy the company.
Alejandro remembered Marissa’s mistake.
She had tried to protect his business from scandal.

Alejandro called every employee into the main warehouse.
Drivers stood beside mechanics and office staff.

“The company you helped build received money that was stolen from my daughter.”
Murmurs filled the room.
“I did not know where it came from.”
“But I benefited from it.”
“I am returning the original amount and every dollar of profit connected to it.”
One manager raised his hand.
“What happens to the company?”
“I do not know.”
“Are we losing our jobs?”
“I will sell personal assets before cutting wages.”
“But I will not hide the truth to protect the Rivers name.”
The company entered an independent financial audit.
Alejandro transferred majority ownership into a protected trust for Sophie.
A board containing employee representatives received temporary control.
He sold his downtown apartment, two luxury trucks, and a vacation property.
The money restored the trust before the court deadline.
Sophie would not receive control until adulthood.
Rosa and an independent trustee would supervise it.
Alejandro removed himself from direct authority over her inheritance.
“You are her father,” Rosa said.
“That does not mean I should control everything she owns.”
“You are learning.”
“Too late.”
“Late is not the same as never.”
At home, Sophie watched a news report showing her father leaving the warehouse.
“Are we poor now?” she asked.
“No.”
“Will we lose the house?”
“Maybe.”
She thought for a moment.
“Can I keep Mom’s blanket?”
“Yes.”
“Then it’s okay.”
Alejandro smiled through tears.
The house suddenly seemed less important.
Detective Brooks arrived that evening.
She had received a message from Martin’s attorney.
Martin wanted to reveal who ordered Daniel’s death.
His price was a reduced sentence.
Prosecutors agreed only if the information could be verified.
Martin named someone no one expected.
Raymond Lane had provided the medication.
Valerie had administered it.
But the person who authorized the plan was Marissa’s employer.
