Chapter 3: The Name No One Recognized

Arthur dropped to one knee.
Gasps rippled across the ballroom.
Victoria blinked.
Had she just imagined what she saw?
No.
Arthur Vance—the attorney who represented billionaires, presidents, and royalty—was kneeling on the marble floor.
"I'm deeply sorry, ma'am."
His voice was quiet.
Respectful.
Almost apologetic.
He gently offered his hand.
The woman accepted it and stood.
As she rose, something changed.
The frightened server disappeared.
Her shoulders straightened.
Her tears stopped.
The uncertainty vanished from her eyes.
She calmly brushed dust from the sleeve of her worn gray coat before turning toward Victoria.
Arthur finally spoke loudly enough for the room to hear.
"Ladies and gentlemen..."
His voice echoed beneath the chandeliers.
"I'd like to introduce the owner of Obsidian Estate."
The room froze.
"The founder and majority shareholder of Obsidian Holdings."
Nobody breathed.
"Ms. Elena Obsidian."
A champagne glass slipped from someone's hand and shattered across the marble.
Victoria stared.
"No..."
Arthur looked directly at her.
"The woman you just humiliated..."
"...owns this estate."
He paused.
"She also owns the catering company that organized tonight's gala."
Another pause.
"And the investment group that financed your entire business expansion."
The silence became unbearable.
Victoria suddenly understood.
Every invitation she'd ever received.
Every luxury event.
Every business opportunity.
May you like
Every ounce of influence she believed she had...
Had come from the woman she'd just forced to clean her shoe.
