Chapter 2: The Letter Hidden Inside the Ring

Inside Victoria's private study, the celebration downstairs felt like another world.
Emily sat nervously on the leather sofa while Victoria unlocked an antique wooden cabinet.
From inside, she removed a faded velvet jewelry box.
Her hands shook.
When she opened it...
An identical silver ring lay inside.
Emily gasped.
"They're exactly the same."
Victoria nodded slowly.
"They were wedding gifts my father commissioned."
She placed the two rings side by side.
Together, they formed one complete family crest engraved across both bands.
Emily stared silently.
Victoria carefully removed an old envelope from beneath the jewelry box.
The paper had yellowed with age.
The handwriting was unmistakably Margaret's.
Victoria unfolded the letter for the first time in decades.
Her voice trembled as she read aloud.
"If anything happens to me... find my daughter.
If Sarah survives, one day she will have a little girl.
Give her my ring.
Tell her the Bennetts never abandoned us...
We were separated by someone who wanted our inheritance."
Emily's heart pounded.
"My mother..."
Victoria looked at her with tears streaming down her face.
"I think your mother wasn't abandoned."
She swallowed hard.
"I think someone stole her from this family."
Just then...
The study door burst open.
Chloe stormed inside.
"This is ridiculous!"
She grabbed the old letter.
One sentence caught her eye.
"The inheritance belongs to Margaret's bloodline."
Her face instantly lost all color.
Because everyone in the Bennett family knew one thing.
