Chapter 2: The Will

Victor’s face hardened.
“What are you talking about?”
Claire laughed quietly, but there was no joy in it.
“Father changed the will before he died. Everything goes to the first Parker grandchild. Not to you. Not to me. To the baby.”
Emily’s blood ran cold.
Victor stared at her. “How do you know that?”
“Because I found the copy in his study,” Claire snapped. “I gave my whole life to this family. I protected the Parker name while you ran off and married her.”
Emily flinched at the hatred in her voice.
Claire pointed at her.
“She walked in here with a cheap dress and a pretty smile, and suddenly the entire Parker empire belongs to her unborn child?”
Victor’s voice dropped.
“You tried to push my wife down the stairs.”
Claire said nothing.
That silence was enough.
Victor grabbed his phone and called the police.
But before he could speak, Claire took one step backward.
Then another.
Her eyes shifted toward the hallway.
The Security Chief moved to block her.
Claire suddenly pulled a small black remote from her clutch.
Victor froze.
“What is that?”
Claire smiled through tears.
