The next morning, everyone expected the man to send a repair bill for the damaged car.
Instead, a moving truck arrived at the children's small apartment.
Inside were new beds, books, food, and school supplies.
He had also arranged a full scholarship for both children and a safe home for their grandmother.
When reporters asked why he had done so much over a tiny scratch, he simply touched the mark on the car and smiled.
"This isn't damage," he said.
"It's a reminder that money can replace paint, but it can never replace a life... or repay a hero's sacrifice."
The little boy looked at the shining car one last time and quietly replied,
"My dad always said that kind people are richer than people with expensive things."
No one on the street spoke.
