Chapter 2: A Forgotten Promise
The man picked up the old photograph with shaking hands.
In it was a smiling construction worker standing beside two children.
"Where did you get this?" he whispered.
The boy replied,
"That's my dad. He passed away three years ago while saving people at a building site."
The rich man's eyes filled with tears.
He remembered everything.
Years earlier, a collapsing scaffold had almost killed him. A brave worker pushed him to safety but never made it out alive.
He had spent years searching for the hero's family but found nothing.
Now, they were standing right in front of him.
The crowd watched as the millionaire slowly knelt down in front of the little boy.
"I'm alive because of your father," he said. "And I never got the chance to thank him."
