Chapter 4 – The Truth Worth More Than Wealth

Sophia was arrested before sunrise.
The investigation uncovered months of hidden debts, secret affairs, and a conspiracy with an international criminal group that planned to seize Daniel's company after his death.
The charity gala had never been about raising money.
It had been chosen because no one would question a sudden collapse during a public toast.
The waiter had accepted money.
Sophia had planned the distraction.
Emily had ruined everything simply by doing her job.
Weeks later, Daniel stood in the same ballroom.
This time there were no reporters.
No celebrities.
Only the employees who had quietly kept his company alive.
Emily stood near the back, still wearing her maid's uniform.
Daniel walked across the room and stopped in front of her.
"You saved my life."
She smiled gently.
"I only told the truth."
Daniel shook his head.
"No."
"You chose courage when fear would have been easier."
In front of every employee, he handed her a small envelope.
Inside was a full scholarship, a promotion to executive assistant, and legal guardianship support for her younger brother.
The room erupted into applause.
Emily began to cry.
Not from fear this time.
From relief.
Daniel looked around the ballroom one last time.
Luxury had almost blinded him.
Status had almost killed him.
But the person everyone ignored...
Had become the one person who saved everything.
