CHAPTER 5 — THE END OF THE PERFECT WOMAN

The wedding was over before it began.

Guests left in whispers.

Phones were already recording.

By morning, Veronica Ashford’s name was no longer associated with luxury or beauty.

Only cruelty.

Only scandal.

Only truth.

Ethan stood in the empty ballroom long after everyone had gone.

Rosa approached carefully.

“Sir… what happens now?”

He looked at Lily, sitting quietly in one of the front rows, hugging her rabbit again.

And for the first time since he built his empire…

Ethan answered without hesitation.

“She stays.”

A pause.

Then softer:

“And no one ever makes her feel small again.”

Lily looked up at him.

Not afraid anymore.

Just quiet.

Safe.

Rosa exhaled slowly, like someone finally allowed to breathe after years underwater.

Outside, Manhattan kept moving.

But inside the penthouse…

Something had changed permanently.

Not money.

Not power.

Not status.

May you like

But something far more fragile.

A child who finally stopped believing she was invisible.
