Chapter 3 – The Witness Nobody Expected

Victoria was handcuffed in front of doctors, nurses, and hospital executives.
She never stopped insisting it was all a misunderstanding.
Then Detective Laura Bennett asked one simple question.
"Who else was involved?"
No one answered.
Until the timid cleaning woman stepped forward again.
"I saw Dr. Reeves sign false reports."
The physician immediately denied everything.
But before he could continue, another unexpected voice spoke.
"I recorded our meetings."
It was Amelia.
She slowly reached beneath her pillow and removed a tiny voice recorder.
Nathan stared in disbelief.
"You knew?"
She nodded weakly.
"I realized after the first visit no one would believe me."
The recording filled the room.
Victoria's voice was unmistakable.
"Increase the sedatives."
"She can't testify if everyone thinks she's unstable."
Dr. Reeves answered.
"It could harm the baby."
Victoria replied coldly.
"That's a risk I'm willing to take."
The doctor lowered his head.
His career ended before the recording finished.
Over the next forty-eight hours, investigators uncovered everything.
Payments.
Threats.
Destroyed medical files.
Falsified reports.
Private security officers who had blocked Amelia's visitors.
The conspiracy spread far beyond one hospital room.
Nathan canceled every trust connected to his mother.
Every board seat.
Every family account.
The Blackwood empire publicly announced Victoria's permanent removal.
For the first time in forty years...
Victoria Blackwood had absolutely nothing.
As officers escorted her toward the courthouse, reporters shouted one question.
"Do you regret what you did?"
She looked directly into the cameras.
May you like
"I regret that she survived."
Even the reporters fell silent.
