Victoria refused to leave.
"You planned this!" she shouted.
Claire remained perfectly still.
"No."
"I waited."
She pressed a button on the conference room screen.
Security footage from the museum appeared.
Everyone watched Victoria grabbing eight-year-old Sophie by the arm.
Then came the audio.
"Children like you don't belong here."
"You're nothing but a penniless little stray."
No one spoke.
Several directors quietly lowered their eyes.
Claire muted the recording.
"You think this is why I removed you?"
Victoria swallowed.
"It isn't."
She opened a second file.
"This is."
Inside were years of internal investigations.
Illegal transfers.
Forged invoices.
Executive bonuses disguised as charitable donations.
Every document bore one signature.
Victoria Langford.
"I inherited ownership," Claire said quietly.
"But I never interfered."
"I wanted to know whether the Langford family deserved another chance."
She looked at Victoria with heartbreaking disappointment.
"You answered that question tonight."
Victoria's attorney suddenly stood.
"My client has rights."
Claire nodded.
"So does the FBI."
As if on cue, the conference room doors opened.
Two federal agents stepped inside.
"Victoria Langford?"
She slowly turned.
"We have a warrant to seize all company records related to financial fraud."
