Chapter 2 – The Servant Who Never Was One

The silence felt heavier than stone.

Victoria climbed to her feet, forcing herself to laugh.

"This is ridiculous."

"You've all lost your minds."

She pointed toward the waitress.

"She's wearing a catering uniform!"

The waitress nodded.

"Correct."

"So why?"

"Because uniforms reveal character."

Nobody understood.

She slowly looked around the ballroom.

"I've served every table here tonight."

"I've poured your wine."

"I've collected your empty plates."

"I've listened."

A cold chill spread through the room.

"What exactly did you hear?" someone asked.

She answered softly.

"The truth."

She looked directly at Victoria.

"You tipped one server five dollars..."

"...after calling her disposable."

She turned toward another guest.

"You promised a charity donation you never intended to pay."

Another.

"You bribed a city inspector last month."

Faces turned white.

No one had imagined the quiet waitress had been paying attention.

She hadn't merely been serving dinner.

She had been observing everyone.

Victoria folded her arms.

"So what?"

"You took notes?"

The waitress smiled.

"No."

"I made recordings."

Her words landed like thunder.

Several businessmen instinctively reached for their phones.

A senator slowly backed away.

One billionaire whispered,

"Delete the security footage."

The waitress heard him.

"I already own the security footage."

Confusion swept through the ballroom.

The hotel manager suddenly appeared.

His hands trembled.

He walked directly toward the waitress...

...and handed her a leather folder.

"Everything is ready, ma'am."

Victoria frowned.

"What are you doing?"

The manager swallowed.

"I'm following my employer's instructions."

Victoria blinked.

"Your employer is my father."

May you like

The manager looked at her with genuine pity.

"It was."
