Chapter 2: The Truth Behind Closed Doors

The hospital hallway was silent.

Marcus stood outside the emergency room, staring through the glass window as doctors examined Khloe.

Every second felt like an hour.

Elaine approached slowly.

“Marcus…”

He didn’t turn.

“Tell me exactly what happened.”

Elaine swallowed.

“I was downstairs at the gala. I received a message saying Khloe needed me upstairs.”

“From who?”

Elaine hesitated.

“That’s the problem. The message came from your phone.”

Marcus finally looked at her.

“My phone was with me all night.”

Exactly.

That was the first crack in the story.

Someone had planned this.

Someone had created a reason for Khloe to be alone with Isabella.

Minutes later, security arrived with the footage.

Marcus watched the screen.

The first few minutes showed Isabella entering the suite.

Then Khloe.

Then the argument.

Then the shove.

Then the kick.

The room became silent.

There was no attack from Khloe.

No aggression.

No misunderstanding.

Only Isabella.

Marcus watched the moment Isabella lifted her foot.

His jaw tightened.

The woman who had once been his closest friend had tried to destroy his wife and unborn child.

“Arrest her,” Marcus said quietly.

But before security moved, Isabella stepped into the hallway.

She was crying.

“Marcus, you’re making a mistake.”

He looked at her with a coldness she had never seen before.

“No.”

His voice was calm.

“That was your mistake.”

For the first time, Isabella Rossi understood something terrifying.

Marcus wasn’t angry.

Anger could disappear.

This was something worse.

He was finished.
