Chapter 1: The Camera Never Lies

Marcus Thorne had built an empire by trusting facts, not emotions.

For twenty years, he had walked into boardrooms where men twice his age tried to intimidate him. He had survived betrayals, lawsuits, and enemies who smiled while planning his downfall.

But nothing prepared him for seeing Khloe lying on a hospital floor.

“Khloe…”

His voice broke.

He rushed forward, dropping to his knees beside his wife. His hands trembled as he carefully touched her shoulder.

“Call the doctor!” Elaine shouted.

Isabella remained frozen for only a second before she recovered.

“Marcus, please,” she whispered. “You have to believe me. She became furious. She pushed me first.”

Marcus looked up.

The old Marcus—the man who had defended Isabella’s reputation for years—might have believed her.

But this time, something felt wrong.

Khloe wasn’t looking at Isabella.

She wasn’t even looking at him.

Her only concern was the baby.

“My son…” Khloe whispered weakly. “Please make sure he’s okay.”

Those words cut deeper than anything.

Because Marcus realized something.

If Khloe had attacked Isabella, if she had truly lost control, why was she lying on the floor protecting their child?

The doctors arrived quickly.

As they lifted Khloe onto the bed, Marcus turned toward the security camera.

“Get me the footage.”

Isabella’s face changed.

Only slightly.

But Marcus saw it.

The woman who had spent months pretending to be innocent suddenly looked afraid.

And Marcus Thorne knew fear.

Because fear only appeared when someone had something to hide.
