PART 3: THE TRUTH BEHIND THE OLD T-SHIRT

Nobody spoke.
Mrs. Carlisle stared at Evelyn's faded brown t-shirt as though reality itself had become impossible.
"You... own this company?"
Evelyn nodded once.
"I inherited fifty-one percent after my grandfather passed away."
She looked around the showroom.
"I like visiting stores without announcing myself."
The employees exchanged nervous glances.
"Old clothes make people honest."
She turned toward Mr. Laurent.
"How many customers has this woman insulted before today?"
The owner sighed.
"More than we'd like to admit."
Security quietly approached carrying a tablet.
Mr. Laurent pressed play.
The cameras showed everything.
Mrs. Carlisle mocking another teenager the previous month.
Yelling at a pregnant cashier.
Throwing a scarf at an elderly sales associate.
Every complaint she had denied...
Recorded.
Mrs. Carlisle's confidence collapsed.
"There has to be some mistake..."
"There isn't," Evelyn replied calmly.
She looked toward the manager.
"Cancel her VIP membership."
The manager hesitated only a second.
"It's already done."
Mrs. Carlisle reached for her phone.
"My husband will fix this."
Evelyn gave a faint smile.
"He won't."
"Because he called me this morning."
"He asked if we'd renew his corporate partnership."
She paused.
"I hadn't decided yet."
