CHAPTER 1 — THE DAY HE BROKE THE WRONG WOMAN

The slap echoed through the marble hall like a final verdict.

Claire didn’t fall immediately.
She just turned her face slowly back toward him, eyes calm in a way that unsettled even his mistress standing behind him.

“Get on your knees,” Daniel said coldly.
“Apologize for stealing from me. Then leave.”

His mistress smirked, arms crossed, enjoying the scene.

Claire’s fingers brushed her cheek once. No tears. No panic.

Just silence.

“You think I stole from you?” she asked softly.

Daniel stepped closer. “Everything in this house exists because of me.”

A pause.

Then Claire smiled—small, almost sad.

“That’s where you’re wrong.”

The air shifted.

Daniel frowned. “What did you say?”

Claire slowly reached into her purse and placed a thin black folder onto the table between them.

Inside: contracts, signatures, bank authorizations.

Daniel glanced at it… then froze.

His name was there.
Every account. Every holding. Every offshore investment.

Controlled by one signature above his.

Claire.

His mistress’s smile disappeared.

“That’s impossible…” Daniel muttered.

Claire finally looked him in the eye.

“You built the company,” she said.
“But I bought it back from your debts… three years ago.”

Silence swallowed the room.
