CHAPTER 3 – Justice Walks Through the Front Door

By noon, the story had exploded across Dallas.
Not because Sofia had posted anything.
She hadn't.
Alexander had.
Not on social media.
In court.
He filed lawsuits against Carmen, Javier, and every woman who had entered that hotel suite.
Assault.
Conspiracy.
Extortion.
False imprisonment.
Intentional infliction of emotional distress.
The hotel security footage showed everything.
Javier escorting his mother upstairs.
The six women entering.
The locked door.
Forty-eight minutes later...
Sofia stumbling into the hallway, barely able to stand.
The district attorney opened a criminal investigation before sunset.
Then the media found out.
Reporters gathered outside the Robles residence.
Neighbors began talking.
Former employees started calling investigators.
One woman recognized Carmen's face from years earlier.
"I was almost her daughter-in-law too."
Another stepped forward.
"So was I."
Then another.
"So was my cousin."
The pattern became impossible to ignore.
Meanwhile, Sofia lay in a hospital bed recovering from cracked ribs, a concussion, and deep bruising across her back.
Alexander sat beside her every day.
He never left.
On the third afternoon, Sofia finally looked at him.
"Why now?"
He lowered his head.
"I failed you once."
She waited.
"I won't fail you again."
Father and daughter cried together for the first time in nearly a decade.
Outside the room, Elena quietly wiped away her own tears.
Some wounds came from violence.
Others came from years of absence.
Both were finally beginning to heal.
Three weeks later...
The arrests began.
Police officers handcuffed Carmen in front of television cameras.
She screamed.
"You can't do this!"
An officer calmly replied,
"We absolutely can."
Javier was arrested at his law office.
His bar association immediately suspended his license pending the criminal investigation.
As detectives searched the Robles home, they discovered folders filled with prenuptial agreements, forged financial documents, and detailed notes on the assets of women Javier had dated over the years.
The family business wasn't love.
May you like
It was fraud.
And the wedding had simply been another transaction.
