CHAPTER 2 – The Father’s Revenge Begins

Alexander Bennett had spent the last ten years pretending he no longer had a family.

The divorce had destroyed him. Pride had kept him away. Work had become his excuse, and silence had become his prison.

But nothing could prepare him for seeing his only daughter covered in bruises while still wearing the wedding dress she had chosen with so much joy.

His hands trembled as he carefully lifted Sofia's chin.

"Who did this?"

She whispered only one name.

"Carmen."

Alexander stood so quickly that the coffee table nearly flipped over.

"I'll kill her."

Elena grabbed his arm before he could reach the door.

"No."

His eyes burned.

"They threatened our daughter."

"I know."

"They beat her."

"I know."

"They laughed while doing it."

"I KNOW!"

The apartment fell silent.

Alexander closed his eyes.

When he opened them again, the rage was still there—but it had become something much more dangerous.

Control.

He pulled out his phone.

For years, Alexander Bennett had built one of the largest commercial real estate companies in Texas. He no longer appeared in magazines because he preferred power over publicity.

Within twenty minutes, three black SUVs stopped outside Elena's apartment.

A former federal prosecutor.

A private investigator.

Two security specialists.

And the best criminal attorney in Dallas.

None of them asked questions.

Alexander simply pointed toward Sofia.

"I want every person involved identified before sunrise."

The investigator nodded.

"Names?"

"Carmen Robles."

He looked at Sofia.

"And everyone who touched my daughter."

The team disappeared.

Less than four hours later, they returned.

What they placed on Alexander's dining table shocked even Elena.

Photographs.

Financial records.

Phone logs.

Security footage.

Bank transfers.

Javier's family wasn't wealthy at all.

They were drowning in debt.

The luxury cars?

Leased.

The mansion?

Mortgaged.

The designer jewelry?

Mostly fake.

For years, Carmen had manipulated wealthy women into marrying her son.

Then she pressured them into transferring property before the marriages mysteriously collapsed.

Two previous brides had signed away inheritance money.

Another had quietly disappeared overseas after filing for divorce.

No criminal charges had ever stuck.

Until now.

Because this time...

They had attacked Alexander Bennett's daughter.

Alexander looked at the attorney.

"Can we destroy them legally?"

The attorney smiled.

"We won't destroy them."

He tapped the mountain of evidence.

"They're about to destroy themselves."

Meanwhile...

Across town...

Carmen sipped expensive champagne inside the honeymoon suite she had stolen from the newlyweds.

She laughed with her sisters.

"That girl will sign everything within three days."

Her phone rang.

It was Javier.

"Mom..."

"What?"

"Our company accounts..."

"What about them?"

"They're frozen."

Carmen frowned.

"What?"

"Our investors just pulled out."

Another phone buzzed.

Her sister answered.

"They're canceling the bank loan."

Another.

"The IRS wants an emergency meeting."

Another.

"Our law firm's biggest client terminated the contract."

For the first time in years...

Carmen stopped smiling.
