Chapter 4: A Sister's Hatred

Emma couldn't breathe.
Olivia had spent years pretending to adore her nephew.
She attended every birthday.
Bought expensive gifts.
Smiled in every family photograph.
All lies.
When police arrested her that evening, Olivia never asked for a lawyer.
She laughed.
"You still don't understand."
Detective Brooks remained expressionless.
"Explain it."
Olivia's smile slowly faded.
"Everything belonged to Emma."
"The company."
"The house."
"Our parents."
"The inheritance."
"And then..."
She looked toward the baby's photograph sitting on the detective's desk.
"He became the next heir."
"My own family erased me the day he was born."
Emma stood outside the interrogation room listening through the glass.
Every word shattered another childhood memory.
The jealousy hadn't started recently.
It had been growing for decades.

The baby was never the target because of who he was.
He was simply the final obstacle standing between Olivia and everything she believed should have been hers.
