PART 4: THE FIRST SAFE MORNING (ENDING)

The house felt different the next morning.

Not because it was quiet.

But because it was finally safe.

Anna was sitting on the couch, wrapped in a blanket.

I brought her warm tea and placed it in her hands.

Her fingers were still trembling.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered.

I frowned.

“For what?”

“For not telling you sooner.”

I knelt in front of her.

“Anna… you didn’t do anything wrong.”

A long silence.

Then she asked softly:

“Will she come back?”

I looked toward the door.

Then back at her.

“No,” I said.

Not as a promise.

But as a decision.

She closed her eyes, finally exhaling like she had been holding her breath for months.

That night, I stayed awake.

Not because I was afraid.

But because for the first time…

I understood something clearly.

A house is not a home because of who built it.

It becomes a home only when the right person is finally protected inside it.

And from that moment on…

May you like

No one would ever hurt her again under my roof.

THE END
