Chapter 5 – Walking Toward My Real Future

Exactly one year later...

I returned to the same church.

Not as a bride.

As a guest.

A young couple I had met through my charity was getting married.

As the bride walked down the aisle, tears filled my eyes.

Not from sadness.

From gratitude.

If Ethan hadn't disappeared that morning...

I would have married a man who loved my future more than he loved me.

Instead...

I found something better.

Peace.

Purpose.

My family.

Myself.

After the ceremony, my father wrapped an arm around my shoulders.

"You know..."

He smiled.

"I thought your life ended that day."

I smiled back.

"No."

"It finally began."

Sometimes the greatest heartbreak is simply life protecting you from the wrong destination.

And sometimes...

Walking into your wedding alone...

Is the first step toward finding the life you were truly meant to live.
