CHAPTER 5 — The Bank’s Verdict
The banker finally called back.
His voice was careful.
Too careful.
“Mr. Hale… the transactions were authorized.”
Adrian blinked.
“What do you mean authorized?”
A pause.
Then—
“Your wife had full access credentials.”
Silence.
Adrian sat down without realizing it.
“That’s not possible.”
Another pause.
Then the final blow:
“She also liquidated the majority of your offshore holdings.”
A cold drop in his stomach.
“That’s… impossible.”
