PART 4 — Midnight Truths

Three nights later...

Dante disappeared.

Without explanation.

Ellie found only one handwritten note.

Stay inside.

Trust no one.

Not even the police.

She hated those instructions.

So naturally...

She ignored them.

...

Following clues hidden inside her father's photographs...

Ellie arrived at an abandoned observatory outside Chicago.

Inside...

Someone waited.

An older man.

Gray hair.

Tired eyes.

Hands trembling.

He whispered,

"Ellie?"

Her world stopped.

"Dad?"

Twenty years collapsed into one heartbeat.

Neither of them moved.

Neither trusted reality.

Finally...

He opened his arms.

She ran.

Everything she had lost since childhood came back in one impossible embrace.

"I'm sorry," he whispered over and over.

"I missed everything."

"You kept me alive."

"I should've been your father."

"You were."

They cried until headlights filled the broken windows.

Then came gunfire.

The men who had hunted Richard Sullivan for two decades had finally found him.

...

Before Ellie could react...

Another convoy surrounded the observatory.

Black vehicles.

Russo security.

Dante stepped out first.

Covered in blood.

None of it his own.

The firefight lasted less than four minutes.

When it ended...

The organization responsible for twenty years of fear no longer existed.

Their leader lay handcuffed beside federal agents who had secretly worked with Dante for months.

It had never been revenge.

It had always been evidence.

May you like

Tonight...

They finally had enough.
