For the first time, he actually ran.
But the doors didn’t respond.
The system didn’t recognize his authority anymore.
Only mine.
He slammed against the sealed exit, breathing hard, eyes wide with something close to disbelief.
“You’re insane…” he whispered.
I walked slowly behind him.
Not rushed.
Not emotional.
Just final.
“I gave you every chance to stop.”
He turned, voice breaking completely.
“Please… I can fix this. Money, power—anything—just don’t—”
I stopped in front of him.
For a moment, only silence existed.
Then I said:
“You misunderstood the situation.”
A pause.
“I was never trapped in here with you.”
Another beat.
“You were trapped in here with me.”
The system released one final command.
LOCK STATUS: PERMANENT
And for the first time that night…
He understood what fear actually meant.
ENDING
By morning, the headlines didn’t report a scandal.
They reported a disappearance.
No bodies.
No confirmed arrests.
Only one sentence leaked from the internal logs of the estate system:
“All hostile assets contained. Subject extracted safely.”
And beneath it… a name signature:
WHITLOCK SECURITY DIRECTIVE — ACTIVE
