Chapter 1: The Girl Hidden in the Bathroom

Minutes before his wedding, the groom discovered a little girl hiding inside the bathroom.

The venue was already alive with music, footsteps, and distant laughter. Guests were arriving. Lights were being adjusted. Somewhere beyond the door, his future was waiting to begin.

But in the corner of a quiet restroom stall, everything stopped.

She was curled up on the cold floor—small, fragile, wearing a tiny white princess dress that looked far too expensive for a child who shouldn’t have been alone. Her knees were pulled to her chest. Her face was buried in her arms. She was crying uncontrollably, like she had been crying for a very long time.

The groom froze.

Then slowly, he stepped closer.

“Hey…” he said softly. “What are you doing here?”

The little girl flinched at his voice.

For a moment, she didn’t look up. Then, hesitantly, she reached out and let him take her small, shaking hand.

Her fingers were ice cold.

Through broken sobs, she whispered:

“Mom told me to stay hidden…”

“…and never go outside.”

The groom frowned. His first instinct was confusion—maybe she got lost, maybe someone forgot her. The wedding venue was crowded. Things like this could happen.

But the way she said it… didn’t feel like an accident.

He crouched lower, keeping his voice calm.

“Why would your mom tell you that?”

The question landed heavily in the small bathroom.

The girl started shaking even more.

Her lips trembled as she tried to speak, like every word was being pulled out of her against her will.

“Mom said it’s a secret…”

“…and I mustn’t tell you anything.”

A long silence followed.

The groom’s hand tightened slightly around hers without him noticing.

Something inside him shifted.

The noise outside the bathroom suddenly felt distant—muted, unreal.

And then it hit him.

Like a slow crack spreading through glass.

He looked at the little girl again… really looked.

May you like

And for the first time that morning, he felt something cold crawl up his spine—because whatever was waiting outside that bathroom…

was no longer just a wedding.
