Chapter 3: The Woman Who Came Back from the Dead

Three days later, Daniel Walker stood in a glass-walled office overlooking Los Angeles.
The storm had passed.
The world looked normal again.
That was the problem.
Michael poured a glass of whiskey.
“Still no body,” he said casually.
Daniel didn’t look up from his laptop.
“There won’t be one. The currents are strong out there.”
Michael smirked.
“So she’s just… gone.”
Daniel nodded.
“Gone.”
He said it like closing a file.
Like deleting a mistake.
But for the first time, his hand hesitated.
A flicker of something crossed his face.
Uncertainty.
Then it vanished.
“She knew too much,” Michael said. “It was necessary.”
Daniel didn’t respond.
Instead, he closed his laptop.
On the screen: financial transfers. Shipping routes. Offshore accounts.
Everything still intact.
Everything still theirs.
Or so they believed.
Because at that exact moment, miles away in a safe house near the coast, Emily Walker was sitting in front of a laptop.
Her hair was still damp.
Her hands still bore cuts from the ocean.
But her eyes were steady.
On the screen:
The encrypted recording.
The proof.
Every illegal deal.
Every name.
Every crime.
And beneath it all, a single uploaded folder titled:
“If I don’t return.”
Emily clicked another file.
Security footage from the yacht’s departure port.
Daniel’s face.
Michael’s face.
Smiling before murder.
She leaned back slowly.
The storm outside had ended.
But inside her, something new had begun.
Not fear.
Not grief.
Something colder.
Purpose.
She opened a new document and typed:
“They tried to erase me in the ocean.
Now I will erase everything they built on land.”
She pressed save.
Then she whispered:
“They should have checked if I was actually dead.”
Outside, the waves crashed against the shore like distant applause.
And in the silence of the room, Emily Walker began her second life.
Not as a survivor.
But as the beginning of their end.
ENDING
And somewhere in the city, Daniel’s phone lit up with an unknown notification:
“You left me in the ocean.”
He frowned.
Opened it.
There was only one attachment.
A photo.
Emily alive.
Standing in the dark.
Looking straight into the camera.

Below it, a message appeared:
“Now I’m coming back for both of you.”
