Chapter 1: The Toast That Never Reached His Lips

The wedding reception was everything people dreamed of.

Crystal chandeliers illuminated the grand ballroom. Soft music drifted through the air as elegantly dressed guests laughed and celebrated. Champagne glasses sparkled beneath the golden lights, and at the center of it all stood the groom, handsome in his tailored tuxedo, preparing to make a toast to his new future.

He raised his crystal glass.

A smile touched his lips.

"To love, loyalty, and forever—"

"STOP!"

The sharp voice shattered the joyful atmosphere.

Every head turned.

A young maid came sprinting through the crowd, her face pale with panic. She pushed past confused guests, ignoring the shocked stares directed at her.

The groom frowned.

Before anyone could understand what was happening, the maid lunged forward.

SMASH!

The champagne glass flew from his hand and crashed against the marble floor, exploding into hundreds of glittering fragments.

A collective gasp swept through the ballroom.

The music stopped instantly.

Silence followed.

The groom stared at the shattered glass in disbelief before turning toward the maid.

His face darkened with anger.

"What are you doing, idiot?"

Whispers spread among the guests.

The bride stood frozen, shock written across her face.

The maid struggled to catch her breath. Her chest rose and fell rapidly as she pointed toward the broken drink.

"You can't drink that."

The groom's eyebrows knitted together.

"What are you talking about?"

The maid glanced toward the bride.

Then back at him.

Her voice trembled.

"Your fiancée put something in it."

The room erupted with murmurs.

The bride immediately stepped forward.

"That's ridiculous!"

The groom looked between the two women, unable to process what he was hearing.

The maid shook her head firmly.

"I'm telling the truth."

The bride laughed nervously.

"She's lying. She's trying to ruin our wedding."

But then the maid slowly lifted her phone.

The whispers died instantly.

Every eye in the ballroom fixed on the screen.

The maid unlocked the device.

Then she pressed play.

Security footage appeared.

Guests leaned closer.

The video showed a private lounge area only moments earlier. A hand reached for the groom's champagne glass while no one was watching.

Then a small packet appeared.

A mysterious substance was poured into the drink.

The ballroom gasped.

The groom's heart nearly stopped.

The footage continued.

The camera angle shifted.

And suddenly the face of the person holding the packet became visible.

The bride.

Absolute silence consumed the room.

The bride's face drained of color.

Her hands began trembling.

The phone slipped from her fingers and landed on the floor.

Several guests instinctively stepped away from her.

The groom could barely breathe.

His eyes remained fixed on the screen.

The evidence was undeniable.

The woman he was about to marry had poisoned his drink.

The bride opened her mouth.

No words came.

No explanation.

No denial.

Nothing.

The groom slowly looked down at the shattered glass on the floor.

Then at the security footage.

Then finally at the maid standing before him.

Only minutes earlier, he had been moments away from drinking that champagne.

Moments away from trusting the wrong person.

Moments away from a fate he couldn't even imagine.

His body shivered.

Tears filled his eyes.

For the first time since the video started, he spoke.

His voice was barely a whisper.

"You..."

The maid remained silent.

The groom swallowed hard.

Then, with gratitude and shock overwhelming him, he looked directly at her.

"You saved my life."

The ballroom remained frozen.

Nobody knew what would happen next.

Nobody knew why the bride had done it.

Nobody knew how the maid had discovered the truth.

But everyone knew one thing.

If she had arrived even a few seconds later...

May you like

The groom would have taken that drink.

And the wedding would have ended in tragedy.
