CHAPTER 3 — A Father's Choice

CHAPTER 3 — A Father's Choice
Lily sat nervously beside her grandmother while the adults talked.
She didn't understand everything.
But she knew something important was happening.
Damian faced Vanessa.
"You didn't throw away paper."
He held up the scrapbook.
"You threw away my daughter's heart."
Vanessa looked down.
For once, she had no excuse.
No manipulation.
No lies.
Just silence.
Damian turned toward Lily.
"Sweetheart, come here."
Slowly, she walked over.
He knelt in front of her.
Then he held up the repaired scrapbook.
"I read every page."
Lily's eyes widened.
"You did?"
"I did."
A tear rolled down her cheek.
"Did you like it?"
Damian smiled.
"It is the greatest gift I've ever received."
Lily burst into tears and threw her arms around him.
The room grew emotional.
Even her grandmother wiped her eyes.
Vanessa watched from across the room.
For the first time, she saw the damage she had caused.
Not to a gift.
To a child.
Several weeks later, Damian made a difficult decision.
Vanessa moved out of the house.
He refused to allow anyone who mistreated his daughter to remain part of their lives.
The mansion became peaceful again.
Lily laughed more.
Smiled more.
And slowly regained her confidence.
Months later, Damian placed the scrapbook inside a glass display case in his office.
Whenever visitors asked why such a simple handmade gift was displayed among valuable awards and trophies, he always gave the same answer:
"Because everything else in this room can be replaced."
Then he would glance at Lily's scrapbook and smile.
"But this was made with love."
Years later, after Lily grew up, she found the scrapbook still sitting in the same place.
Untouched.
Protected.
Treasured.
And she finally understood something important:
The greatest gifts are never measured by money.
May you like
They are measured by the love behind them.
THE END. ❤️
