Chapter 1:THE BRIDE INSULTED THE WRONG WOMAN

THE BRIDE INSULTED THE WRONG WOMAN
“Don’t you dare touch me!”
The bride’s scream cut through the glittering ballroom.
In the middle of white flowers and golden chandeliers, an elderly woman stood trembling in a navy gown, holding out a bouquet of deep red roses.
“These roses are for you,” she cried softly. “I only wanted to—”
“You ruined everything!” the bride snapped, pointing toward the doors. “Get her out!”
Guests looked down at their tables, too shocked to speak.
The old woman’s shoulders shook. One red rose slipped from the bouquet and fell onto the polished floor.
The bride stepped closer, rage burning through her perfect smile.
“Who do you think you are, walking into my wedding dressed like this and crying for attention?”
Before the woman could answer, the groom pushed through the guests.
“Stop!”
He caught the bride’s arm before she could knock the roses away, then gently pulled the sobbing woman against his chest.
The bride blinked in confusion.
“Ethan… what are you doing?”
His face was pale with anger.
“Don’t touch her.”
“Wait… what?”
Ethan wrapped his arms tighter around the elderly woman as she buried her face into his tuxedo.
“She is my mother.”
The bride’s breath caught.
“No,” she whispered. “Your mother is dead.”
Ethan looked at the bouquet shaking in his mother’s hands.
“That’s what my father told me,” he said. “Until she showed me what was hidden inside these roses.”
His mother lifted the bouquet toward him with trembling fingers.
A sealed letter was tucked between the deep red petals.
On the front, in faded handwriting, were the words:
For my son, before he marries the daughter of the man who destroyed our family.
