CHAPTER 2: THE WEIGHT OF POWER

The room remained frozen long after the words were spoken.

“My daughter… pack your things. We’re going home.”

The billionaire’s voice was calm, but it carried a pressure that crushed every excuse in the room.

The pregnant woman—Elena—finally exhaled a breath she didn’t realize she had been holding.

For the first time that night, she felt safe.

Her husband stepped forward, his face pale but still defiant.

“You can’t just walk in here and take her—”

A single glance from the older man stopped him mid-sentence.

It wasn’t anger.

It was judgment.

“You mistook cruelty for authority,” the billionaire said quietly. “That is your first mistake.”

The police officers shifted slightly.

The sound of equipment and boots on marble echoed like a countdown.

The mother-in-law tried to recover her arrogance.

“This is our family matter—”

“No,” the billionaire interrupted.

His voice sharpened.

“This became my family matter the moment my daughter was hit in your house.”

Silence fell again.

He turned slightly toward Elena.

“Did anyone else touch you?”

She hesitated.

Then, softly, she answered.

“No… just him.”

The air changed.

Cold.

Dangerous.

The billionaire removed his jacket slowly and handed it to her, shielding her trembling shoulders.

“Good,” he said.

Then he looked at the officers.

“Take statements. Every word.”

The husband’s face tightened.

“You’re threatening me?”

The billionaire finally smiled.

May you like

But there was no warmth in it.

“No,” he said. “I’m finishing this.”
